While it may be possible to run perhaps up to 3 times as fast on the moon due to the lower gravity that would push the average running speed up to around 45 miles per hour. Studies attempting to calculate the maximum speed a human could physically run at have suggested the upper limit may be as low as 40 miles per hour, a limit which is based in the physical nature of our muscle fibres and how fast they are able to contract.
